Hey! Vina Review
Hey! Vina is a social networking app that is reported to be designed specifically for women to connect, make friends, and build supportive communities. It was created in 2015 by Olivia June Poole and Jen Aprahamian, who recognized the challenges women face in making new friends as adults. Olivia June Poole, an entrepreneur with experience in the dating app industry, and Jen Aprahamian, a software engineer, combined their skills to develop Hey Vina in San Francisco.
The app allows users to create profiles with information about themselves and browse through other profiles, swiping right to connect with potential friends. Hey Vina offers various features to facilitate friendship-building, such as icebreaker questions, groups, and events based on shared interests. The app also provides resources and articles on friendship, self-care, and empowerment.
The name “Hey Vina” was chosen to evoke a friendly and approachable atmosphere, with “Vina” derived from the Spanish word for wine, symbolizing relaxed conversations between friends. The app aims to create a safe and inclusive environment for women to form lasting friendships and combat social isolation.

Hey! Vina Verdict
For an American social networking app, Hey! Vina has a small user base.
Hey! Vina is an app designed for females with ample free time in major cities, seeking to explore online-initiated friendships. Users are required to put effort into being discovered and finding genuine connections with real people, which includes swiping profiles, providing detailed information on their own profiles, engaging in chats with others, and actively participating in local events.
Compared to other dating and matchmaking services, Hey! Vina offers a more focused approach on fostering meaningful friendships. However, it’s noted that there are currently fewer activities available, and live events are only drawing a handful of participants. Additionally, connecting to online chat rooms can be challenging, even when attempting random connections.
Hey! Vina is for people who have extra free time to discover other local people for friendship.
